Using high density EEG, researchers at the University of Cambridge have discovered previously unknown signatures in the brains of vegetative patients.  These findings pont to networks that may support consciousness in patients that seem to be unresponsive.  While not all vegative patients show the same signatures, some vegetative patients (asked to imagine playing tennis) show very similar brain activity to healthy adults asked to imagine the same actions.  For the full article see: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/10/141016143706.htm
