A test involving sending a self-driving van into traffic in the Washington, DC area caused a minor social media freakout.  The test, using a camouflaged driver to make the van appear driverless, was an attempt to measure how people react to driverless vehicles.  A team from Virginia Tech's Transportation Institute carried out the test on behalf of US automaker Ford.  Read more at www.citylab.com/transportation/2017/09/how-to-talk-robot-car/539814/
